MGOM
* This week during class I haven't been planning much of how I want to present my topic. But I'm thinking of doing a power point. I've stuck with the same topic which is "A Senior's Guide to the College Hunt". I plan on gaining more followers to share with others.

The Digital Divide
When it comes to technology I feel like I'm like any other teenager that's addicted to their phone, it's our way of escaping the real world sometimes, or sometimes we just do it for fun. Technology has it's ups and downs. There's times when I feel it holds me back from achieving my goals because it distracts me and I can't focus on my school work. I know for sure that my data is not protected or private but I know that there are ways that we can make that happen. I feel like the way people see us online depends on the way we express ourselves online. But there are times when it is used in negative ways such as cyber bullying, that can harm people, and the way people see you online.

True Meaning
Many people have different views on reading. Some people enjoy it as a hobby, some love it because it's as if they get to escape their world for a bit and fantasize, some enjoy learning new things, but there are also people that do it because they are forced to. Unlike Dr. Preston, he clearly enjoys reading because as he stated, "I opened the cover, read the first page, sat down on the floor, and devoured the whole thing. Actually it devoured me. That book scared the shit out of me and I loved every minute. It didn’t matter that I didn’t understand every nuance. I loved it so much that when I finished it, I immediately turned back to the first page and started reading it again." This helps show how much Dr. Preston enjoys reading because of what the books have to offer.
"The deeper meaning of the book points the deeper meaning in ourselves", states Dr.Preston. I feel like what he stated there describes perfectly his thoughts toward reading. What Dr. Preston is trying to say is how if you truly enjoy a book, it's the book that holds a meaning for you.Something that was necessary to get to you, something that will truly help you. Overall this states how the true meaning of a book to you truly points the impact that meaning has had in your life.
"For those of us who love, recommend, and assign books sometimes make things too simple." Dr. Preston is clearly stating how we can force someone to read a book, but we can't make them enjoy it. It's as if teachers these days doubt their students they will read so they test them. I feel like this is the part that makes it easy because that's when students start reading the book but only to get answers to questions. And not for the sake of getting something out of the book or truly enjoying it. This just make us understand how much teachers that assign books make it easy for students to not enjoy a good book.
Reading can be described as a hobby, pleasure, resource for knowledge, or an enforcement. If you truly take the time to enjoy a book I feel you would get something out it. I agree with what Dr. Preston stated that the meaning of a book can connect to you, because it's something that you were destined to know about or you needed. This is why we need books, because we need their true meaning.

Fahrenheit 451 Questions
1.The novel Fahrenheit 451 begins : “It was a pleasure to burn.” Why does Ray Bradbury start the novel in this way? Why might it be more pleasurable to burn books rather than read them?
I think Bradbury starts the book with this line to grab the reader's attention, to show this is no ordinary book, and to keep the reader interested. It might be more pleasurable to burn books rather than read them because there are some people that don't like to read and they don't value books.
2. In the opening scene, why are the books compared to birds?
In the opening scene, books are compared to birds because he wants to state that books are important and should be valued. For example when a bird dies it's tragic and depressing, same goes for if books didn't exist, nobody would be happy and people would need them.
3. Discuss the difference between Montag and Clarisse’s lives.
Clarisse is curious, thinks things through, and lives with hope but on the other hand Montang is unhappy, settles for less in his life, and doesn't feel worthy of anything.
4. Montag’s television includes headphones called “seashells.” The “wall to wall circuit” allows Mildred to enter the “play” and, therefore, the television programming. How does the technology within the novel compare to our current technology? In the first pages of the novel, does technology improve the quality of life for Montag and his wife, Mildred? Why or why not?
Technology within the novel is similar to the current technology because we interact with it more and more as it progresses.
5. Why does the narrator introduce us to Montag at this time of his life, when he encounters Clarisse and confronts Mildred’s overdose?
When Montag encounters Clarisse it was as if it was for hs own good. She helps him think and start to wonder things. He also confronts Mildred's overdose showing the hardships he was dealing with.
6. Why does the author introduce the character of Clarisse before Mildred?
The author indroduces Clarisse before Mildred because he wants to compare both of them and show how Clarisse makes a good impact in his life compared to Mildred.
7. Why are all the houses fireproof in this society?
All houses were fireproof because firemen would burn books, in this case the books would burn but not the houses.
8. Why does Mildred require emergency service? What service is provided?
Mildred required emergency service because she had taken a whole bottle of sleeping pills and she was in a self-induced coma. Two men helped her, one pumped her stomach and the other man used another machine to replace her blood.
9. What is the mechanical hound and what is its purpose?
The mechanical hound is a machine used to hunt down and kill people who have violated the laws of the society.
10. Why does the society consider Clarisse “anti-social”?
In Clarisse's society being social means going to her classes and paying attention, talking to people and getting to know them, and asking questions. But being social in that society means not asking questions and to kids her age is being a bully to one another and misbehaving. That is why is she is considered ant-social because she does the opposite.
11. When the woman’s house is raided, why does she light the match?
She lights the match because would rather die as a human being than live as something less than a human since the firemen were going to burn her books.
12. Describe the relationship between Montag and Mildred.
Montag and Mildred are like strangers because they hardly know each other. It is as if they weren't in a relationship because they aren't in love, sleep in different beds, and don't communicate with each other.
13. What is the purpose of Beatty's visit?
Beatty wants to tell Montang to not make the mistake and choose books
14. Reread Captain Beatty’s monologue (pp.57-59). Discuss his view that school cultivates anti-intellectual sentiment (p.58). In your opinion does it accurately depict your high school? Do books violate the idea that ”everyone is made equal” (p.58)?
I feel like books are important because they give the knowledge of things we might not know, gives us different perspectives towards topics such as books, and most importantly they don't violate the idea that everyone is made equal because everyone thinks for themselves and books don't define what you think but guides you towards your beliefs.
15. Why does Montag feel “fat”?
Montag feels fat because he feels that his new knowledge of books is a burden, this makes him feel heavier.
I think Bradbury starts the book with this line to grab the reader's attention, to show this is no ordinary book, and to keep the reader interested. It might be more pleasurable to burn books rather than read them because there are some people that don't like to read and they don't value books.

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
This love poem is like no ordinary love poem or song. It describes some of the awful things love can do or make you feel. Obviously, the narrator puts himself down and that doesn't give him high hopes for love. He feels as is he is not worthy of love or not good enough. He thinks that if he gives love a chance and puts himself out there, he will get crushed.

Gatsby Chapter 4
1.) Gatsby tells Nick the truth about his past because he didn't him to get the wrong idea about him. He told him he was born in a Midwest wealthy family and was educated in Oxford. He also said that after touring Europe he served as a major in the military.
2.) Jordan tells the truth to Nick about Daisy and Gatsby's past together, their relationship ended badly because they planned to get married but Gatsby decided to go to serve in the War. She claims Gatsby purposely choose his house so he would be close to Daisy. She also said that Gatsby wants her to convince him into forming a reunion between Daisy and Gatsby.
*I believe Jordan because I feel like Gatsby is hiding something and he's not telling the truth to Nick about his past.

Gatsby Chapter 3 Remix
In chapter 3 of "The Great Gatsby", I believe the most significant part was when Nick was casually talking to a man at the party. Yet not realizing he was talking to great man himself, Gatsby. I don't think he would've talked to him so confident if he knew he was talking to Gatsby. I feel like that's what we always do. We doubt ourselves, thinking we can't do certain things. But once we take the opportunity of trying, we realize it's not that bad. We should never doubt ourselves because who knows we could've been great at something, but we never took the risk.

Remix Project
We took the poem "Naturalist" by Joel Lee and the idea of Transformation that we learned to make it our own.
Naturalism
By Gladis Garcia & Edgar Garcia
We are naturalists in our own and unique wayWe hide our deepest secrets, but never go away
How do we choose between what we want and what we need?
Others do it in their own way
Sometimes we feel pressured to make the right decision
But we never look back and see, there are others in the same position
We have all once felt like we need to be perfect
When we hear the word Naturalism we feel the urge to feel perfect
We all have freedom but choose to not use it
Everyone will tell you, it’s your decision to listen or not…
Naturalist

Naturalism
By Gladis Garcia & Edgar Garcia
We are naturalists in our own and unique wayWe hide our deepest secrets, but never go away
We can only change how we deal with them
Our past always has a way of coming back to haunt us
People can’t always be who they want because of society
Our thoughts aren't always right
There is always some kind of assurance we see
Our thoughts aren't always right
There is always some kind of assurance we see
How do we choose between what we want and what we need?
Others do it in their own way
Sometimes we feel pressured to make the right decision
But we never look back and see, there are others in the same position
There is naturalism in things we do because it is about reputation
Lying to ourselves can make us suffer
The things we do are for a reason and not everyone will understand
Lying to ourselves can make us suffer
The things we do are for a reason and not everyone will understand
We have all once felt like we need to be perfect
When we hear the word Naturalism we feel the urge to feel perfect
We all have freedom but choose to not use it
Everyone will tell you, it’s your decision to listen or not…
Naturalist
By Joel Lee
The naturalist in us all
Burying the deepest it only resides
Realism forever more
Whether or not... everything only ties
We can never be who we are
Because everyday we are all trying to be
Minds and time never on par
Why is there a certainty we always see?
How do we apply what we want?
In every other country deem foreign
Are there laws never knowing we can run?
Are there enough differences we never really care to learn?
There is no naturalism in what we do
Because what we have done did not just come by
The kind of hardship we know but never knew until
What we do was earned and not for reasons why
We are all products of how natural we can't be
Dare I say naturalism are those without minds...
You do know we all have freedom without freedom to be free
Because the world will never tell you but remind...

Music as Literature
Music can be considered Literature because it is a collective written works of a culture . It is created through one's imagination and the process of creative writing. When the elements of creativity come together, the work can be recognized as artistic value and be considered as literature. The difference between a novel, a poem, a rap, a song, an opera and a symphony is that a poem is a narrative usually about a certain character. A poem is a composition in verse. A song is a short metrical composition. An opera is an extended dramatic composition and a symphony is an elaborate instrumental composition.
